Portals
A Journey through the Mundane by Ermias Assefa
About Portals
In the ever-shifting landscape of our lives, we encounter moments of introspection, seemingly unimportant, echoes of memories, and glimpses into our innermost selves. We often overlook these fleeting moments that dance by like fire flies. <PORTALS > invites you to pause, breathe and celebrate the mundane. Travel down memory lane and examine thoughts, feelings, values and find the appeal in it all. Because sometimes, it’s the pixel-sized wonders that truly sparkle.

ABOUT the Artist
Ermias Assefa
Hey there! I’m Ermias Assefa, a visual storyteller born and raised in Addis Ababa. I co-founded Behagerlij, where I wear the hat of art director, and we’re all about bringing stories to life through visuals. My background is in architecture, but somehow I ended up designing worlds instead of buildings — which, let’s be real, is way more fun!
If you spot a short guy with a beard who’s grinning like he just discovered a hidden treasure, that’s probably me! I’m all about bold, stylized visuals. Why stick to the ordinary when you can stretch, twist, and exaggerate to really capture those emotions? My design training sneaks into everything. I do, blending seamlessly with my art direction. Mostly, I’m on a mission to dodge creative stagnation, experimenting until something magical happens. That’s how I’ve developed my own style — or at least, that’s what I like to tell myself!
